Generalized Weakness/ADL Dysfunction/Gait Abnormalities
Severe trauma, injury, prolonged illness or incapacity, and traumatic events such
as strokes or head injuries can lead to significant weakness, stiffness and loss
of function. At Richardson Spine and Sports Therapy we analyze functional movement
patterns to determine areas of weakness and loss of normal mobility that can occur
from these events. Examples of functional movement patterns may include rolling
in bed, going from sitting to standing, and walking. These are common day to day
activities that require multiple joints and muscle groups to coordinate together
to achieve the desired task (such as getting up from a chair). We think nothing
of it when we are healthy, but under significant weakness from injury or disease
these tasks can be very difficult, if not impossible. The therapists at Richardson
Spine and Sports Therapy are specially trained in functional movement patterns and
will work to restore the mobility and functional strength necessary to perform these
tasks. We offer a one on one treatment environment and maintain continuity of care
throughout rehabilitation.
What our patients have to say……
“The people at Richardson Spine and Sports Therapy have the patient’s best outcome
at hand. The program for my son has gotten him to stand from his wheelchair and
take steps, something we would have never thought possible. My son had not stood
or walked on his own in 14 years. We are very pleased. People like you make a difference
in the world. I want to thank Richardson Spine and Sports Center.”-M.D.
“I feel
if I had come here when I came home from the hospital instead of having home health
I would have been back to normal much sooner. The treatment here was excellent.”-M.F.
